M & W XC and Track and Field

How about a shout out for Winthrop University's Men's and Women's XC and Track and Field finishing in the top of the school with 36 All Big South Scholars (as reported by CN2). Also, the T&F teams lead WU both academically and athletically this year with the only WU athlete that competed for a National Championship (Ashley Howard, Discus - ranked 17th in the US). If I recall correctly, I believe WU Men's and Women's XC and Track & Field are the only teams ever to compete for a National Title, (1993 Indoor and Outdoor Track; 2000 XC; 2004 Outdoor Track; 2008 Outdoor Track with more than one athlete and 2010 with Ashley Howard). Rumor has it this program is not very well funded and only has two coaches for over 60 athletes to coach. Give this progam a huge shout out and let's support Coach Paxton and his athletes.
